" Integrated water resource management in upper river basins "

Dear Friend,

In order to prepare the 3rd World Water Forum of Kyoto (March 2003), the French Authorities, in collaboration with the Alpine Economic Society, the City Hall of Megève (the well known international winter and mountaineering resort) and the International Network of Basin Organizations (INBO), invite you to participate in the international conference on integrated water resource management in the upper river basins of mountainous areas :

ON 5 AND 6 SEPTEMBER 2002
IN MEGÈVE (FRANCE)

This important conference will especially deal with four strategic topics:

1. Protection against natural hazards such as erosion and floods, especially linked to overgrazing and deforestation,
2. Water sharing between uses (hydropower, urban use, tourist resorts, industry, irrigated agriculture, etc.),
3. Pollution prevention upstream of water courses and springs,
4. Economic development of water resources in mountains (hydropower, mineral waters, water-related sports, tourism, etc.).

The conference organizers would deeply appreciate your participation, to present your experience and recommendations on water management.

Your papers, in word format, should be sent to me only by e-mail (riob2@wanadoo.fr) or on floppy disk.

All these papers will be presented on the Conference and INBO websites " http://www.inbo-news.org " in which you will find the program and any practical information about your stay.

There will be a simultaneous translation into English, Spanish and French.

I hope that you will be able to participate in this important event which will be jointly chaired by Mrs. Margaret CATLEY-CARLSON (President of GWP) and Mr. Walter MAZZITTI (President of the Gran Sasso National Park in Italy).
